Maine Ice-Out Fly Fishing and Trolling

Maine Ice-Out TrollingMaine Ice-Out Fishing:

When the ice melts in the Allagash or North Maine Woods in early May our native book trout, salmon and lake trout rise to the surface and feed aggressively for several weeks on smelt. Trolling flies, lures and spoons from a 21′ scott boat or traditional 20′ grandlaker can provide nonstop action for these highly sought after game fish. Combined with a hot shore lunch, early season fishing will create lasting memories and great stories.

Late May runs into June when our waters begin to warm. Starting in early June and running through the end of September fishermen know the Aroostook and Allagash watersheds for the exceptional Maine trout fishing on our rivers, lakes, streams and ponds.
