Native Wild Brook Trout and Landlocked Salmon

Chandler Lake Camps and Lodge is your gateway to fly fish and explore one of America’s iconic landscapes of more than 3.5 million acres of wild woodlands and pristine waters. Travel with veteran Professional Maine Guides and experience Maine’s Heritage waters of the Allagash, Aroostook and Penobscot River watersheds.

With access to more than 5 wild rivers, numerous streams and countless remote small lakes and ponds. Whether you are wading a remote Maine river or casting from a comfortable Old Town canoe during one of our numerous hatches you have the option to fish a different remote pond, stream or river each day. Our professional and courteous guides are willing, able and happy to cater to any skill level.  Dry-Fly fishing, swinging streamers or nymphing, we have the remote waters for you.

For the angler or non-angler companion we offer relaxing lakeside cabins with private bath, delicious home cooked meals of the highest quality and the only camps on the lake. For the guest that needs to stay connected we offer complimentary phone service and WiFi in the lodge.

The Fly Fishing in Northern Maine is not difficult, again due to low pressure and the lack of fishermen. You may cast over fish that have not seen a fly for months, years or ever. But it does vary greatly. For most of our Brook Trout fishing a mid-flex (5-6wt) rod usually works best. We spend time fishing from canoes, 21′ Grand Laker style Scott boats, and walk/wading. We have more than 30 canoes stashed on remote waters and ponds throughout the North Maine Woods. We cater to all skill levels, join our exceptional guides/instructors to fine tune your skills and catch trout in any situation.  Opportunities for dry and wet fly fishing are about equal, depending on the season.

The first hatch of the season is generally the Blue-winged olive. Our caddis flies of all sizes and colors hatch all summer. Tent wing, Goddard and stimulators work well followed in a few weeks by the Hex’s. Throwing wooly buggers, nymphs, and streamers is sometimes the best way to catch the largest Brook trout but many an evening supplies the best action as we chase and cast long to evening rises. There is nothing like the evening hatch, a rise and a beautiful sunset in the North woods.

For our fly in guests we can arrange Seaplane service from Bangor International airport for connecting flights eliminating need for a rental car and more than two hours of driving gravel roads. Enjoy the view from the air and spend the extra time fishing!

Non stop jet service from Newark International(EWR) to Presque Isle(PQI) with flight times under two hours at least twice a day can put you on the water with us in less than 4 hours! We can also provide vehicle shuttle service*** from Presque Isle(PQI) airport roundtrip to Chandler Lake.

Our waters daily produce Brook Trout and Landlocked Salmon in the 12- 16” class. 18 and 19+ fish are common and the 20+ fish are in the waters you are fishing. Opportunities for dry, wet and nymph fly fishing.

We are AVID fly fishermen, we want you to succeed and keep coming back to our small piece of paradise. A good guided day will produce 20 fish pp.  A great day will double, if not triple those numbers. We protect our fisheries; we expect the same from our guests. While we primarily cater to fly fisherman, we can accommodate spin fisherman. We also offer ice-out trolling experiences and can provide all necessary equipment and instruction.

A legendary guide in our area, Will McNally, once said: “God could have made a better looking fish, but I don’t know how. Its a dam shame to only catch him once.” Don’t come just to catch fish. Come for Maine’s North Maine Woods experience. It is the best that nature has to offer.

We specialize in small groups up to 14 guests per week and offer custom packages for Corporate Retreats, Group Fly Fishing Schools, Family, Private and Women’s only groups.  We would love to build an unforgettable North Maine Woods Experience for you!
